Key Issues

In many ways, the petroleum industry is large and complex with issues that span the globe and are of world wide import. Other issues affecting or resulting from oil and gas development are more local in nature and mainly concern local communities right here at home. UPA works to be an advocate for the oil and gas industry in Utah and represent member companies in the numerous issues of import that impact both industry and Utah communities.

Some key issues include air quality, gas prices, tier 3 fuels, industry economic impacts, hydraulic fracturing, refinery safety, public lands, landowner issues, and transportation.

Anadarko Receives Earth Day Award

My Image

UPA congratulates Anadarko Petroleum Corporation for receiving a 2017 Utah Earth Day Award. The Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining awarded this special recognition for Anadarko's reclamation and seeding project in their Greater Natural Buttes field in Uintah County.

Each year, the Board presents Earth Day Awards to companies, organizations or individuals who go above and beyond what is required by regulation to protect the environment, while developing Utah's natural resources.
Awards are presented in the areas of oil and gas, minerals mining and coal mining. Specific award categories are environmental improvement to an active mine site, exploration site, or producing field; outstanding results following applications of innovative environmental technology; and outstanding final reclamation or site restoration.

Congratulations to Anadarko and all those other UPA Members who work so hard and invest so much time and capital into maintaining and improving Utah's environment while producing energy resources that are critical to citizens of our great State.
